Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to anything hosted, deployed, or transmitted through Webstead (the "Service") and is incorporated into our Terms of Service by reference. It exists so the beta stays usable and safe for everyone hosting on shared infrastructure.

1. Prohibited content

You may not use the Service to host, publish, or distribute content that:

• Is illegal under applicable law, including Lithuanian and EU law
• Constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form — we report this to the relevant authorities and terminate the account immediately, no exceptions
• Infringes someone else's intellectual property, trademark, or other legal rights
• Contains malware, exploit code, or is designed to gain unauthorized access to any system
• Facilitates phishing, credential theft, or impersonation of another person or organization
• Is defamatory, harassing, or threatens violence against a specific person or group
• Violates the privacy rights of others (for example, publishing someone's private data without consent, "doxxing")

2. Prohibited resource use

Because sites share a metered pool of network cycles, we also prohibit using the Service to:

• Mine cryptocurrency or run proof-of-work workloads
• Operate an open proxy, VPN endpoint, or traffic relay
• Deliberately drain a canister's cycles (for example, generating artificial request floods against your own or another site)
• Run automated scraping or load-testing against Webstead's infrastructure without prior written permission
• Circumvent per-site or per-plan cycle budgets through technical workarounds

3. Platform subdomains

Free {yourslug}.webstead.app subdomains are for sites you actually intend to use. Don't register subdomains solely to squat on a name, impersonate another brand, or resell/redirect them to unrelated services.

4. Enforcement

If we become aware of a violation, we may, depending on severity:

• Ask you to remove or correct the offending content
• Temporarily suspend the affected site
• Suspend or terminate your account

We aim to be proportionate: a first-time, low-severity issue typically gets a message asking you to fix it, not an instant ban. Severe violations (CSAM, active malware distribution, illegal content) result in immediate suspension without prior warning.

5. Appeals

If you believe a suspension or takedown was made in error, email support@webstead.app with your account details and a description of why you believe the action was incorrect. We'll review and respond within a reasonable time.

6. Reporting abuse

If you encounter content hosted on Webstead that you believe violates this policy, report it to support@webstead.app with the site's URL and a description of the issue.
